IT'S FREEZING (WINTER): meaning and examples
Hello again, everyone. Welcome back to the Daily Vitamin.
Today we continue our series of Daily Vitamins about expressions and phrases related to seasons and the weather. Today we are looking at some phrases related to the winter.
Today's first phrase is: It's freezing
Meaning: When you say that something is freezing or freezing cold, you are emphasizing that it is very cold.
Example 1: It was the middle of the summer and I had to wear a sweater in the cinema because the air conditioner was so strong. It was freezing cold.
Phrase 2: severe weather
Meaning: Severe weather can include dangerous conditions caused by thunderstorms, damaging winds, tornadoes, hail, flooding and winter storms associated with freezing rain, snow and strong winds.
Example 2: Today we were going to drive to Madrid, but due to the severe weather conditions, we have decided to wait until tomorrow.
