IT'S UP TO YOU (REVISION)
IT'S UP TO YOU (REVISION): meaning and examples
Good morning. Today's Daily Vitamin was originally sent on October 18th, 2004.
Today we are going to look at a very common spoken expression: to be up to somebody
It means: to be the person who has the power to make a decision.
Example 1
It's up to you to decide what kind of car to hire. After all, you're the one who's going to be driving. (= It's your decision.)
Example 2
I can't tell you what to do about the client. It's not up to me. Why don't you ask the sales director? (= It's not my decision.)
