JUMP-2: meaning and examples

Good morning again. Today we are going to look at a couple of expressions with JUMP.

Today's 1st expression with JUMP is: to jump the gun

Meaning: to do something too soon, before the right time.

Example 1:
I think the CEO jumped the gun when he opened offices in China last month; I don't think the Chinese market is ready for our innovative products.

Today's 2nd expression with JUMP is: to jump down someone's throat (informal)

Meaning: to react very angrily to someone.

Example 2:
I asked the marketing manager when the new advertising campaign would be ready and he suddenly jumped down my throat. I think he's a little tense because they are behind schedule.
