KIND-1: meaning and examples

Hello everyone. I hope you had a good weekend.

This week we are going to look at some expressions with the English word KIND.

First we will look at the "normal" meanings of KIND.

Meaning 1 (as a noun): a group of people or things that are the same in some way; a particular variety or type.

Example 1:
At the birthday party for the children, there were three kinds of ice cream.

Meaning 2 (as an adjective): gentle; caring about others; friendly & generous.

Example 2:
She is a very kind and helpful person.

Meaning 3 (formal): used to make a polite request or give an order, very formally.

Example 3:
Excuse me. Would you be kind enough to close the door?
