KIND-2: meaning and examples

Good morning everyone.

Today we continue our look at meanings of and expressions with the English word KIND.

Today's expression is: a kind of (informal)

Meaning
: used to show that something you are saying is not exact.

Example 1:
What? Jack isn't coming to the convention? I had a kind of feeling that this might happen.

We can also say kind of (instead of a kind of) to mean "slightly" or "in some ways".

Example 2:
Your comments made me feel kind of stupid. I wish you hadn't said them.
