LEARNING TIPS: YOU MUST MAINTAIN YOUR ENGLISH
LEARNING TIPS: YOU MUST MAINTAIN YOUR ENGLISH: meaning and examples
Good morning.
This week we are reviewing some of the basic philosophies behind the Ziggurat English programme, ideas that anyone who is trying to learn English should keep in mind.
Ziggurat Paradigm 1 (Tuesday): Nobody can teach you English; you have to LEARN English.
Ziggurat Paradigm 2: The most difficult thing about learning a language is maintaining what you've already learned.
The other day we visited a well-known multi-national company that was interested in utilizing our English-training services. Imagine our surprise when they told us that they have English classes for 7 months of the year, and the other 5 months they do nothing because they don't have time. Their "start-and-stop" plan guarantees failure (fracaso).
In the end, I don't know if the company will select us as their English provider; however, unless they change their policies, it will be difficult to accept the assignment since their language policy clashes with our mission to help people to make English a part of their daily routine, even if for only 3 minutes… and even during summer holidays and busy periods.
Instead of the 7/5 approach (7 months of English 5 months of English-holiday) we recommend the 24/7 approach (English 24 hours per day, seven days per week).
To help you make English a part of your daily routine, I'm attaching a document with some suggestions of simple activities that you can do in 2 to 10 minutes. Some of you may have seen this document before, but it doesn't matter. Read it again and choose to make one or two of the suggestions a part of your daily English routine. What are you waiting for?
Enjoy the rest of your day!
