Today's expression is: play the market
Meaning: to buy and sell stocks and shares in order to make a profit.
Example 1:
I would rather play the market than put my money in the bank.
Example 2:
I've finally learned my lesson playing the market; I lost a fortune. From now on I'm just going to leave my money in a bank.
