MELANCHOLIC
MELANCHOLIC: meaning and examples
Welcome back to the Daily Vitamin everyone. I hope you are having a good day.
As you may know, this week we are looking at different, less-common, adjectives to express emotion. Hopefully you'll find this week's adjectives a bit more interesting, and you will incorporate them into your vocabulary.
Today's emotion adjective is: Melancholic
Meaning: a sad or gloomy condition or mood.
Sentence 1: Jack... I know that you are feeling a bit depressed, so I don't think you should be listening to this melancholic music. Why don't you listen to something a little more upbeat.
Sentence 2: His melancholic expression and frown on his face showed the deep sorrow he felt after saying goodbye to his father, who passed away last month.
For a bit more practice, I encourage you to write a coherent English sentence with this adjective. You can post your sentence on one of our social media sites (Facebook or Twitter/X) and we will give you feedback as soon as possible.
Have a great day!
