MOVIE CLIP: THE SANTA CLAUSE: meaning and examples
Happy Friday everyone, and welcome back to the Daily Vitamin. For today's lesson, we are looking at a famous Christmas movie: The Santa Clause starring Tim Allen. Have you ever seen it?
In this movie clip, Tim is turning into Santa Clause... although he is not happy with the changes happening to his body. Before watching, here is a list of some vocabulary words you need to know:
To check (one's) pulse: to listen for the heart beat.
As healthy as a horse: an idiom meaning that someone is very healthy.
Clydesdale: a breed of horse that is very large.
To put on weight: a phrasal verb meaning "to gain weight."
To fluctuate: to move levels; to go back and forth.
To gain weight: a synonym of "to put on weight."
To cut back on something: to use less of something.
Hormonal imbalance: a problem in the body when the hormones are not at the correct levels.
Mood swings: when someone goes from happy to sad (and vice-versa) very quickly
