Meaning: we use this phrase as an interjection to express surprise or shock, disbelief, sympathy, excitement, admiration, mild alarm, etc.

Example 1: My goodness Christina... I can't believe you managed to finish all of your homework in just one hour. Well done!

Example 2:
My goodness, Olga... you are such a talented artist!
