PASSIONATE ABOUT / NOT A FAN OF (LIKES: meaning and examples

Happy Thursday everyone. Welcome back to the Daily Vitamin. I hope you are having a good week.

Today we look at another pair of expressions we use to express likes and dislikes.

Today's 1st expression is: To be passionate about

Meaning: to have very strong feelings or emotions about something or a strong belief in something.

Example 1: My wife is passionate about graphic design.

Example 2: I love having him in the marketing department because he is so passionate about all of the projects we are working on.

Today's 2nd expression is: Not a fan of

Meaning: It's a more indirect or polite way to say that you do not like something.

Example 3: He is not a fan of jazz music, but I love it.

Example 4: I'm happy to go to dinner with you, but I'm not a big fan of pizza. How about if we go to a Chinese restaurant?

As usual, to get some practice, I hope you will write your own original sentence with one or both of these expressions. You can post your sentences on one of our social media sites (Facebook or Twitter/X) and we will give you feedback about them ASAP.

Enjoy the rest of your day!
