PERK
PERK: meaning and examples
Good morning.
Today's word is: PERK
Meaning: something extra (a privilege) that an employee receives in addition to salary and benefits (benefits = medical coverage, retirement plans, etc.). Perks may include things like: the use of a company car, free meals, coupons or tickets, flexible time schedules, attending conference, training, etc.
Example 1:
Employees at Google have so many fun perks, like snack rooms, gym and exercise rooms and chill-out spaces where they can relax.
Example 2:
I wasn't sure that I'd take the job, but one of the perks was restaurant coupons. I realized that I could save a lot of money if I didn't have to pay for my own lunch every day.
Example 3:
I just got two free tickets to the opera. It's one of the perks of working for a PR company.
