Definition: To accept or follow a decision or rule.

Example 1: If you don't abide by the law, you could be in trouble.

Example 2: The team didn't abide by the sport rules and so they were disqualified.

Example 3: It's difficult for some children to abide by the rules.

This is a TRANSITIVE and INSEPARABLE phrasal verb.
