Is there any activity or situation that makes you really nervous? SO nervous that you can't speak? If so, then today's Phrasal Verb Friday term is for you. We are looking at the phrasal verb TO CLAM UP.
Definition: to become silent suddenly, usually because you are nervous or because you do not want to talk about a particular subject.
Example 1: He clammed up when I asked him about his new job. I don't think he likes it very much.
Example 2: I tried to sing karaoke once, but when I got on stage I clammed up!
Example 3: She clams up when she gives speeches or presentations.
