PHRASAL VERB FRIDAY: 'COME ON' ZIGGURAT BLOG: meaning and examples
In his well-written review of The Big Apple, Eliseu says that one of the best things about visiting NYC was:
"Crossing the Brooklyn Bridge at sunset, heading to Manhattan when the city lights were gradually COMING ON."
COME ON is our phrasal verb for today. There are several definitions for this phrasal verb, today we are looking at the definition used by Eliseu.
Definition: to start to happen or work.
Example 1: The lights come on later now because it's summer.
Example 2: My favourite TV show comes on at 8 pm.
Example 3: The lights came on after the theatre production ended.
That's all for today. Thanks to Eliseu for such a great review. We are so happy you had a wonderful time in New York!
