Definition 1: To be blocked with ice.
Example 1: The pipes froze up and now we don't have water.

Definition 3: To be paralyzed with fear.
Example 3: She tried to give her speech, but then she froze up.
It's incredible how many definitions one phrasal verb can have! This phrasal verb is INTRANSITIVE, so it doesn't take an object.
