PHRASAL VERB FRIDAY: 'OPEN UP': meaning and examples
As you probably know, this month we are focusing on Hollywood and the movies.
Today's Phrasal Verb Friday post is also one related to celebrities and fame: the term TO OPEN UP (about something). This is commonly used in gossip magazines and articles about celebrities.
Definition: to share an experience or emotion.
Example 1: She opened up about her troubles with drugs and alcohol as a teenager.
Example 2: The actor opened up to the media about his struggle with depression.
Of course, us 'normal' people can use OPEN UP as well: we OPEN UP about personal emotions.
Example 3: She really opened up to me last night and I feel like I know her better now.
Example 4: If you do some team building activities, it helps people to open up.
This phrasal verb is INTRANSITIVE.
