PHRASAL VERB FRIDAY: 'TAKE AFTER': meaning and examples
For today's Phrasal Verb Friday, we are looking at the phrasal verb TO TAKE AFTER (someone).
Definition: to be similar to a member of your family (either in physical appearance or in character).
Example 1: Wow, you really take after your grandmother. You have the same eyes and cheekbones!
Example 2: I think I take after my Dad. We are both shy when you meet us, and we both love to read.
This phrasal verb is TRANSITIVE: you always have to TAKE AFTER someone. It is NOT SEPARABLE.
