Definition: to make a mistake; to ruin something.
Example 1: The wind messed my hair up! And it looked so good this morning.
Example 2: The candidate messed up his speech. He confused facts often and did not explain his ideas well.
Example 3: I'm sorry I forgot your birthday. I really messed up.
This phrasal verb is SEPARABLE. As you can see from the examples, it can be either TRANSITIVE or INTRANSITIVE.
