PHRASAL VERB FRIDAY: 'TO NOD OFF'
PHRASAL VERB FRIDAY: 'TO NOD OFF': meaning and examples
I have a quick question: have you ever fallen asleep at work, at a meeting, in class, or on public transport? We use the verb TO FALL ASLEEP to describe this, but there is also a colloquial phrasal verb to describe this action: TO NOD OFF.
Definition: to fall asleep.
Example 1: Look at that man nodding off on the train.
Example 2: I nodded off during the movie. What happened?
Example 3: When the kids started to nod off, she turned off the lights.
What makes you nod off? A glass of wine? Relaxing music? The Daily Vitamin? ;-)
