PHRASAL VERBS FOR SUMMER (LAY OUT): meaning and examples
Hello and welcome back, everyone!
It's day two of our Phrasal-Verbs-for-Summer theme and we are focusing on the phrase TO LAY OUT.
Definition: To recline in the sunshine in order to get a tan.
Example 1: We laid out for about an hour.
Example 2: Don't lay out for too long. You will burn!
Example 3: I just want to lay out in the sun and do nothing all day.
This phrasal verb is INTRANSITIVE and, therefore, NON-SEPARABLE.
NOTE: today's definition is a slang version of the phrasal verb TO LAY OUT. There is another more technical definition. Do you know it?
