Today is part one of our three-part lesson on the phrasal verb: TO JACK (SOMETHING) UP.
Definition 1: To increase sharply.
Example 1: They jacked the rental prices up in my neighbourhood, so I am thinking about moving.
Example 2: There was a shortage of avocados, so they jacked up the price of guacamole at my favourite Mexican restaurant.
This phrasal verb is optionally SEPARABLE.
