PHRASAL VERBS WITH JACK: JACK UP (3): meaning and examples

Welcome back and happy Friday, everyone!

Today is the third and final part of our three-part lesson on the phrasal verb TO JACK UP. We will look at a slang definition of this phrasal verb, specifically TO BE JACKED UP

Definition 3: Used to describe someone who has ingested a large quantity of a stimulant (such as coffee, cocaine, or an amphetamine). 

Example 1: He is jacked up after drinking lots of coffee. 

Example 2: His father was a drug addict who would get jacked up whenever he had a little money to buy drugs. 

This phrasal verb does not take an object (it's intransitive).

We also say that someone is JACKED UP ON something. 

Example 3: She's jacked up on cocaine. 

In this final case, the verb is inseparable.
