Definition: To close a place in order to stop someone from getting in.
Example 1: I accidentally locked myself out of my house.
Example 2: She locked him out of the house after they had a fight.
This phrasal verb is optionally separable. It is also used as a common passive expression: TO BE LOCKED OUT.
Example 3: I lost my key and now I am locked out.
