PHRASAL VERBS WITH SQUASH ('SQUASH UP AGAINST')
PHRASAL VERBS WITH SQUASH ('SQUASH UP AGAINST'): meaning and examples
Happy Friday and welcome back, everyone!
This week our theme is Phrasal Verbs with the word "Squash."
Today's phrasal verb is: TO SQUASH (SOMEONE/SOMETHING) UP AGAINST (SOMEONE/SOMETHING). There is some debate on this one; it is actually more of an expression that uses the phrasal verb SQUASH UP.
Definition: To press someone or something firmly so that the person or object is smashed or deformed.
Example 1: The bread was squashed up against the milk carton and now the bread is all flat.
Example 2: On the plane, I slept with my head squashed up against the window, and now my neck hurts.
That's all for this week. Thank you so much for learning with us!
We will see you on Monday for more English lessons. Until then, take care.
