PHRASES FOR COMPROMISE & FLEXIBILITY: meaning and examples

Hello everyone. Welcome back to the Daily Vitamin. I hope you are having a good day, and I hope you had an excellent weekend.

This week we are focusing on phrases that we can use when we want to compromise or be more flexible. These phrases can be especially useful when you are negotiating or when you are in disagreement with someone and you are looking for ways to find common ground.

Today's phrase is a way to propose compromise.

Today's phrase is: How about we agree to...?

Example
Marta: Antonio, I understand you want to work from home two days a week, but I’m concerned about team collaboration.
Antonio: I get that, Marta. But I’m just as productive at home, and I can always be available for meetings.
Marta: Hmm… How about we agree to a trial period? You can work from home two days a week for one month, and we’ll review the results.
Antonio: That sounds fair. I’ll make sure to keep communication open and show that my productivity stays the same.
Marta: Perfect. Let’s check in after a month and see how it’s going.

👉 Now it's your turn. I encourage you to write your own sentence or dialogue with today's phrase. You can post your sentence on one of our social media sites (Facebook or Bluesky) and we will give you feedback about your writing ASAP.

Enjoy the rest of your day!
