PHRASES FOR MAKING SUGGESTIONS: HOW AB: meaning and examples

This week we are going to look at common phrases that we use to make suggestions.
Today's 1st expression is: How about...?
Meaning: used to make a suggestion or offer.
Example 1: How about going to the new Mexican restaurant that's downtown?
Example 2: Would you like a beer? No? How about a glass of water?
Today's 2nd expression is: Why don't we...?
Meaning: You can use this phrase when you want to make a suggestion to do something together. We generally use it when we expect the listener to agree with us.
Example 3: Why don't we take a short break so we can clear our minds?
Example 4: Why don't we take a walk in the park?
