PORTMANTEAUS (SMOG)
PORTMANTEAUS (SMOG): meaning and examples
Welcome back and happy Friday, everyone!
This week's theme has been Portmanteaus. A portmanteau is a word that is a combination of two other words. Today's word is SMOG.
SMOKE FOG = SMOG
Definition: Fog combined with smoke and other pollutants.
Example 1: The smog is much better now. I remember when the whole sky was brown some days.
Example 2: The smog is worse here in the summer.
Example 3: To help reduce smog, the government has created strict requirements for new cars with respect to their engine's exhaust.
That concludes this week's lessons. We hope you enjoyed learning these portmanteaus. Have a great weekend!
