PRONOUNS (REFLEXIVE)
PRONOUNS (REFLEXIVE): meaning and examples
Hello Daily Vitamin readers! Happy Tuesday to you.
Our theme this week is Pronouns. Today we are learning about REFLEXIVE pronouns.
REFLEXIVE PRONOUNS show that the object of the action is the same as the subject. Imagine a drawing with one person, and then a circular arrow that points back to the person. This shows reflexiveness.
English has the following REFLEXIVE PRONOUNS:
-Myself
-Yourself
-Himself / herself / itself
-Ourselves
-Yourselves
-Themselves
We use a REFLEXIVE PRONOUN as a direct object when the object is the same as the subject of the verb. We do this with many transitive verbs; the verbs in the examples below are some of the more commonly used.
Example 1: I taught myself how to play the ukulele during quarantine.
Example 2: We have to prepare ourselves for the possibility of a drop in sales next quarter.
Example 3: He hurt himself by running in the wrong shoes.
We had a lesson about this in 2017. If you would like to review it, below I have included the link to that lesson.

That's all we have for today! Thank you for reading. We will see you tomorrow for another lesson on this theme.
