'PUENTE' IN ENGLISH
'PUENTE' IN ENGLISH: meaning and examples
Hello everybody. I hope you had a nice weekend.
This week we will only send one Daily Vitamin (today's), due to the bank holidays on Wednesday and Friday. Since many of you are taking the whole week off, we thought it would be better not to send Daily Vitamins this week. I hope you don't mind.
In Spanish, when referring to a week like this week with lots of bank holidays, it is very common to talk about "puentes," or even "acueductos." In English we do NOT use the equivalent words "bridges" or "aqueducts" to describe long weekends that are formed by combining bank holidays with "unofficial" days off. There is no equivalent in English.
I hope all of your enjoy your week full of bank holidays and days off, whether you're working or resting. We'll see you again on Monday, December 11.
Have a great day!
