REACH AN AGREEMENT

Good morning.

Today's expression is: to reach an agreement

Meaning: An agreement is an arrangement, a promise or a contract made with someone. If you reach an agreement, you arrive or come to an agreement.

My students often say arrive to an agreement in conversation. Of course, it is completely understandable, but we usually use the verb "reach" or the phrasal verb "come to" and not "arrive."

Example 1: 
The management and employees finally reached an agreement. 

Example 2:
The two sides failed to reach an agreement, so the elections will have to be repeated.
