RETIREMENT vs. JUBILATION: meaning and examples
Today we are going to look at a false friend (a word that looks similar in both Spanish and English but that has a different meaning).
RETIREMENT
Meaning: the time of life when you stop working because of old age, usually around 65 years old.
JUBILATION
Meaning: an act or feeling of great joy and triumph, or of celebration.
Example 1:
The age of retirement is increasing in Europe from 65 to 68, partly because of the ageing population.
Example 2:
A feeling of great jubilation came over the country when Spain won the World Football Cup in 2010.
