RING-1: meaning and examples

Good morning everyone. I hope you had a nice weekend.

This week we have prepared a series of Daily Vitamins that look at different expressions with the English word RING.

Today's expression is: to ring a bell (informal)

Meaning: to sound familiar to you, as though you have heard it before.

Example 1:
Rachel: Hey Matt...do you know who Jack is?
Matt: His name rings a bell, but I'm not sure who he is. I don't think we've ever met.

Example 2:
Arnold: Do you remember what the boss told us in the last meeting about the project?
Janet: Uh...well...it rings a bell, but can you remind of the details...please.
