SNOW EXPRESSIONS-3: meaning and examples

Good morning!

Today's expression is: to be snowed in / up

It means: to be unable to leave a place because there is a lot of snow.

Example 1
:
We were snowed in at our cottage last weekend after the snow storms on Saturday and Sunday.

Example 2:
The government put an emergency plan into action when 20 cars were snowed up in a mountain pass tunnel during the heavy snow fall.

It's been snowing a lot in Spain recently. I hope you haven't been snowed in anywhere!
