SNOW EXPRESSIONS-4
SNOW EXPRESSIONS-4: meaning and examples
Today we present our last SNOW expression. Hopefully it will coincide with some sunshine this weekend!
Today's expression is: as clean / pure as the driven snow
It means: when something is extremely clean or pure. This expressions evokes the image of snow that has recently fallen and is completely clean; no one has stepped in it. It is a somewhat poetic expression.
Example 1:
Their love was as pure as the driven snow. They were completely devoted to each other and expressed this through romantic letters.
Example 2:
Greg: You really believe, despite all the accusations, that he is as clean as the driven snow, don't you!?
Allison: Well, sure... I mean he has such an honest face. Plus he was the captain of the national sports team. I can't imagine that he would steal all of that money. He doesn't need it.
Greg: Oh Allison. You're so innocent!
This ends our series on SNOW expressions. I hope you have good weather, wherever you are, this weekend.
Tomorrow we present our Essential Weekly Vitamin for Spanish-speaking students of English.
