SPACE VOCABULARY (TAKE OFF)
SPACE VOCABULARY (TAKE OFF): meaning and examples
Hello everyone. I hope you had a nice weekend.
This week we are going to look at words and expressions related to space and space exploration.
Today's first expression is a phrasal verb: TO TAKE OFF
Definition: If a rocket, an aircraft, bird, or insect takes off, it leaves the ground and begins to fly.
Sentence 1: My plane took off an hour late, but the pilot said we would arrive on time anyway; he's going to make up the lost time.
Sentence 2: The rocket will take off at 9:30AM tomorrow morning.
TAKE OFF can also be used to mean the same as TO LEAVE.
Now that this lesson is finished, I'm going to take off. ;-)
Have a great day and I'll see you tomorrow.
