SPORTS/TEAM IDIOMS (TEAM UP AGAINST)Â : meaning and examples
Welcome back, Daily Vitamin readers!
To celebrate the 2018 Winter Olympics, this week we are looking at Sports/Team Expressions. Yesterday we learned TO TEAM UP; today we are looking at a similar phrase: TO TEAM UP AGAINST someone or something.Â
Definition: Joining together to fight someone or something.Â
Example 1: The political parties are teaming up against the President and asking him to pass more laws to protect the environment.Â
Example 2: The schools are teaching children to team up against drugs.Â
Example 3: It feels like everyone in the office is teaming up against me now that I am their boss.Â
You may have noticed that many of these sports-related expressions can be used for situations outside of sports, such as in business and at work.
That's all for today. Thank you for reading!
