SPRING IS IN THE AIR
SPRING IS IN THE AIR: meaning and examples
Good morning, everyone. Happy Friday to you. I hope you are having a great day. Welcome back to the Daily Vitamin!
Today we continue our series of Daily Vitamins about expressions and phrases related to seasons and the weather. Hopefully, with the phrases we have covered this week, you can become a bit more creative when you speak about seasons and the weather.
Today we are looking at some phrases related to the spring, my favourite season of the year.
Today's first phrase is: Spring is in the air
Meaning / Use: If something is in the air, you feel that it is happening or that it will happen soon. So, when we say that spring is in the air, we mean that the weather is "spring-like" or that spring will begin soon.
Example 1: The sun was shining and it was 70 degrees Fahrenheit. Spring is in the air.
Phrase 2: It’s surprisingly warm for this time of year.
Meaning / Use: We use this phrase when the temperatures are higher than normal. This can happen a lot as we near the spring; however, it can happen at other times of the year too.
Example 2: Wow, it's March 31st and it's almost 23 degrees Celsius. It’s surprisingly warm for this time of year.
That's all for this week. If you would like some extra practice, I invite you to post an original sentence with one (or both) of the phrases from today's lesson on one of our social media pages (Facebook or Twitter/X) and we will give you feedback as soon as possible.
Have a great day and an excellent weekend!
All the best!
