STRAIGHT-4 (REVISION)
STRAIGHT-4 (REVISION): meaning and examples
Today's expression is: to keep a straight face
It means: not to show that you want to smile or laugh in a situation; to maintain a neutral facial expression.
Example 1:
How did you manage to keep a straight face during the presentation? When I have to give presentations or speeches, I get so nervous that I start laughing.
Example 2:
It can be very difficult to keep a straight face when somebody does something embarrassing in front of you.
Example 3:
The students were behaving so badly that the teacher got very angry and shouted at them. However, some of the students couldn't keep a straight face and started laughing. This, of course, made the teacher even angrier.
