STRAIGHT-5 (REVISION): meaning and examples

Good morning. I hope you had a nice weekend.

Today's expression is: to get something straight.

It means: to understand something correctly.

Example 1:
I'm not sure I understand what you're saying. Let me try and get it straight. (Equivalent expression = I want to try to understand.)

Example 2:
We had to repeat the explanation three times before they got it straight.

Example 3:
I'm a visual person so I need you to write down the instructions step-by-step if you want me to get them straight. It's not enough for you just to tell me.

Have you got this expression straight? If not, please post your comments by clicking on the "Add a Comment" button in the Daily Vitamin section on our website (www.ziggurat.es).
