SUMMER ROMANCE EXPRESSIONS (SUMMER FLING)

As I mentioned, this week we will begin the 2022 Alphabet Game. We'll start on Wednesday, and tomorrow I will send you more information about the game. We hope all of you will participate and enjoy yourselves and, who knows, win some prizes.

Today and tomorrow we're going to look at a couple of Summer Romance expressions.

Today's expression is: Summer fling

Meaning: a summer fling is a summer romance, which is usually short and sweet and, usually, temporary.

The word FLING can mean to "throw something," or it can mean "a short period of enjoyment." So, a summer fling is a short period of enjoyment, that is often "thrown" away when summer is over. ;-)

Example 1:
We met while she was here on vacation, and I was off from school. It was a great summer fling, but no serious relationship developed out of it.

Example 2:
Ten years after having a summer fling with him, Dawn ended up getting married to Jay.
