TAKE YOUR WORD FOR IT (10 YEARS!)
TAKE YOUR WORD FOR IT (10 YEARS!): meaning and examples
Today we learn another expression that was suggested to us by Judit. Today is also the 10-year anniversary of the first Daily Vitamin. On October 23, 2003, we sent the first Daily Vitamin lesson. Today's lesson is the 2005th.
Today's expression is: TO TAKE SOMEONE'S WORD FOR IT
Meaning: to believe that something is true because someone tells you it's true, without making sure that it really is true.
Example 1:
If you say you've made the transfer today, I'll take your word for it and I'll mail the products tomorrow morning.
Example 2:
Don't just take my word for it... go and see for yourself.
I hope you have a great day!
