TALK SOMETHING UP: meaning and examples
Good morning.
This week we have been looking at expressions with the verb talk; today we look at one more of these expressions.
Today's expression is: to talk someone or something up
Meaning: to describe someone or something in a way that makes them sound better than they really are.
Example 1:
I've been talking up your idea about reorganising the sales team. I think I've just about convinced everyone that it's a good idea.
Example 2:
They keep talking up the new CEO as if he represented a real change. However, being the son of the old boss, I don't think things will change too much.
