TEA (SLANG EXPRESSIONS)
TEA (SLANG EXPRESSIONS): meaning and examples
Hello everyone and welcome back the Daily Vitamin. I hope you have had a great week, and I hope your Friday is going well.
Today we look at one last slang use of a common word in English.
Today's slang expression is: TEA
Meaning: the normal meaning of tea is a hot drink made by infusing dried, crushed leaves of a tea plant in boiling water. But today we look at a modern colloquial (or slang) meaning of tea. That meaning is gossip or personal information.
Example 1: Greg, come on! Tell me what happened at the party. Spill the tea!
Example 2: We need to catch up soon—I have so much tea to tell you!
For one last time this week, I want to give you some English practice; I encourage you to write a sentence with today's slang expression. You can post your sentences on one of our social media sites (Facebook or Bluesky) and we will give you feedback about your sentences ASAP.
I hope the rest of you day goes well, and I hope you have an excellent weekend. We'll be back on Monday (in February) with lessons about gratitude and appreciation.
All the best!
