TENSE TUESDAY: 'AS...AS' FOR COMPARISONS
TENSE TUESDAY: 'AS...AS' FOR COMPARISONS: meaning and examples
Last month, we looked at Comparatives to express similarity. For today's lesson, we are looking at another way to compare things: using "as . . . as" with an adjective.
We use the formula AS ADJECTIVE AS when two things are the same.
Example 1: She is as tall as her sister.
In this example, the girls are the same height.
Example 2: I am as happy as you are about the good news.
In this example, we are equally happy.
When two things are different, we use NOT AS ADJECTIVE AS.
Example 3: She is not as tall as her brother.
In this example, the two people are different heights. The sister is shorter than her brother.
Example 4: We are not as angry as our boss about the news.
In this example, our boss is angrier than us.
That's all for today. We will see you tomorrow for Wordy Wednesday
