TENSE TUESDAY: IRREGULAR SUPERLATIVES: meaning and examples

Hello, readers! I hope you're having a terrific Tuesday. For tense Tuesday, we are looking at IRREGULAR SUPERLATIVES. This is not exactly a tense, but it is interesting grammar, which is also a follow up from a lesson we did last month (see below).

Remember that SUPERLATIVE ADJECTIVES are adjectives used to compare two or more things. The structure to make a SUPERLATIVE ADJECTIVE is generally THE ADJECTIVE -EST

Example 1
: He is the tallest person in my family.

But with
adjectives that have three or more syllables, we use THE MOST ADJECTIVE

Example 2
: You are the most knowledgeable person I've ever met.

We looked at
Superlatives last month. Click on the following link to see that lesson:

https://www.ziggurat.es/es/lecciones_ingles/index.asp?id=2781

In that lesson, we mentioned that we would look at
IRREGULAR SUPERLATIVES separately. IRREGULAR SUPERLATIVES do not follow the EST pattern of other adjectives.

Here are some
IRREGULAR SUPERLATIVES:

good, better,
BEST
bad, worse, WORST
little, less, LEAST
much, more, MOST

Example 3
: We bought the least expensive plane tickets.

Example 4
: She always buys the most unique clothes.

That's all for today. Thank you for reading!
