TENSE TUESDAY: PRESENT PERFECT PASSIVE
TENSE TUESDAY: PRESENT PERFECT PASSIVE: meaning and examples
Hello, readers!
Today for Tense Tuesday we are looking at the PRESENT PERFECT PASSIVE. Do you know how to use the passive form of this tense? Here is the formula:
HAS/HAVE BEEN PAST PARTICIPLE
We use this tense when we talk about something that has been done by someone at some time in the past. Because this is the PRESENT PERFECT, this activity has a relationship with the present time: usually, we are talking about things that have recently been done.
Because this is a PASSIVE construction, we don't always have to include the person or thing who completed the action: this information might not be important to the speaker or the listener.
Example 1: The windows have been washed and the carpets have been cleaned. Is there anything else you need done?
Example 2: Many books have been written about the Titanic.
Example 3: The thief has been caught by the local police.
That's all for today. Thank you for reading! I hope you have a fabulous day.
