TENSE TUESDAY: THE PRESENT PROGRESSIVE TO COMPLAIN
TENSE TUESDAY: THE PRESENT PROGRESSIVE TO COMPLAIN: meaning and examples
On Tense Tuesday the Daily Vitamin focuses on one of the twelve English tenses. Today we are looking at the Present Progressive to complain about people's habits.
We use the Present Progressive (also called the Present Continuous) to talk about events that are happening right now.
Example 1:
I am reading The Daily Vitamin and we are practicing our English skills.
This tense can also be used to complain about the annoying habits of others. For these cases we usually add the word "always."
Example 2:
My roommate is always eating my food!
Example 3:
My neighbours are always playing loud music late at night. And their dog is always barking!
Be sure to tune in tomorrow for Wordy Wednesday, when we look at some California slang.
Enjoy the rest of your day!
