TENSE TUESDAY: 'WISH' AND 'IF ONLY' TO COMPLAIN: meaning and examples
https://www.ziggurat.es/es/lecciones_ingles/index.asp?id=2704
This week we are looking at another way of using WISH and IF ONLY. We use the construction WISH/IF ONLY WOULD VERB to complain about a behaviour we disapprove of or to express annoyance with a present action.
Example 1: I wish you wouldn't work so hard. You need a break.
Example 2: If only you wouldn't work so hard. You need a break.
Example 3: I wish she would listen to her doctor and get surgery.
Example 4: If only she would listen to her doctor and get surgery.
Example 5: I wish my neighbours would be quiet late at night.
Example 6: If only my neighbours would be quiet late at night.
That's all for today. What annoys you? Complain to us on our Facebook page using WISH or IF ONLY.

We will see you tomorrow for Wordy Wednesday and our last post of 2015!
