Today we are looking at the words WISH and IF ONLY and how we use these words to express regret.
We use the construction WISH/IF ONLY PAST PERFECT (had past participle).
Example 1: I wish I hadn't lost my keys.
Example 2: If only I hadn't lost my keys.
Example 3: I wish I had brought my umbrella; this rain is horrible.
Example 4: If only I had brought my umbrella.
